This ticket is for (1) admittance into the 2nd Sunday Cacao Ceremony at Some Like it Hot Yoga Private Studio on the 2nd Sunday of the Month of January 2025. The event begins on the 12th at 1 PM and will conclude around 3 PM.
This event is designed to relax your mind and soothe your soul. Here are some of the questions we are often asked…
What is Cacao?
The cacao tree (Theobroma Cacao) produces pods that are cut to reveal cacao seeds (beans) that are dried and fully fermented. To produce 2 pounds of chocolate, around 250-550 cocoa beans are processed by roasting, cracking, and shelling to create nibs. The nibs are then ground into a thick paste and cooled.
Cacao trees grow deep in the rainforest and take up to 5 years to grow with a lifespan of 100 years. History confirms the cacao tree was known to be domesticated over 5,000 years ago.
Have you seen cacao everywhere lately? According to Aztec lore, cacao will emerge from the rainforest when the world is out of balance. Ceremony facilitators are drawn to share this balance with others and carry the hope that each attendee’s heart will be opened and forever ignited with love. After all, it is only the frequency of love that has the energetic power to heal.
What is a Cacao Ceremony?
A cacao ceremony is designed to put you in a positive, uplifted state of mind. The three pillars of a cacao ceremony are gratitude, intention and reciprocity. The facilitator will guide you through a series of activities designed to help you connect more deeply with yourself and those in the circle. Cacao is a powerful plant ally that facilitates spiritual growth and deep connection. The experience is different for everyone. The best advice is to ‘just be’ and let the experience unravel without expectation of the outcome.
Why is it called a ceremony?
A ceremony is an event with purpose, performed on a special occasion and usually consists of artistic components. The word is synonymous with celebration and is usually a shorter time period than an event. Our cacao ceremonies bring the community together through song, meditation and reflection.
What should I expect?
Cacao contains phytochemicals, theobromine and a small amount of caffeine. Cacao is well documented for it’s positive mood boosting effects. The compounds anandamide and PeA increase serotonin uptake which attributes to an overall feeling of happiness and contentment. Within 20-30 minutes, a warm buzz is generally felt with full effects by the 30 minute mark. Feelings of slight euphoria, increased alertness, increased energy and inspired creativity are common.
What should I bring?
Yourself and an energy of openness! Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a pen & journal if you feel moved to do so.
What is Fair Trade?
As you can imagine, Cacao holds a very high value. For millennia, people have been exploited, trafficked and harmed out of greed and ego. It is incredibly important that ANY chocolate you consume comes from a reputable source. Fair Trade is a word used to denote the use of ethical purchasing practices when purchasing from less economically developed countries. The label indicated that the producer received fair and ethical pay for their products. The cacao currently being used in ceremony has been ethically sourced from Mystical Yoga Farm in Guatemala. It is single source and was hand peeled in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.
What about cultural appropriation?
It is true that the Ancient Aztecs and many South American cultures have used cacao for religious, spiritual and ceremonial purposes. We are grateful to the ancients who developed the processing of this valuable plant medicine.
Who are the facilitators?

It was in 2023 that Brandi answered the call to share the magic of cacao with others. She joined the World of Cacao for her facilitator’s certificate and learned both the science and the spiritualty of cacao.
Brandi applies modern techniques with ancient wisdom to create a ceremony that will encourage a deep sense of self love and strong community connection.
